The course provides participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to guide a test automation project. The course focuses on the concepts, methods, tools, and processes for automating dynamic functional tests and the relationship of those tests to test management, configuration management, defect management, software development processes and quality assurance. The course includes exercises and practice exams to highlight key aspects of the syllabus and to help participants understand and practice the concepts and methods presented.
Methods described are generally applicable across variety of software lifecycle approaches (e.g., agile, sequential, incremental, iterative), types of software systems (e.g., embedded, distributed, mobile) and test types (functional and non-functional testing).

Advanced Level testers, who have passed the “Advanced Test Automation Engineer” module exam, can be expected to:
All participants will be given relevant exercises, practice exams and learning aids for taking the corresponding ISTQB exam certificate
Candidates for the ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer certificate must hold the ISTQB Certified Tester Foundation Level certificate (CTFL). As the course material and the certification exam are in English, the participants are expected to have good command of English language.
The training will benefit professionals in roles such as testers, test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, software developers, and anyone wishing to gain the ISTQB Advanced Test Automation Engineer certificate.
The certification is aimed at professionals who are working within a tool supported software testing environment. It is also for professionals who are planning to start working within a tool supported software testing environment in the future, or are working within companies that plan to do so.
Kari Kakkonen - M.Sc. in from Aalto University (aalto.fi). He has also studied in University of Wisconsin-Madison (wisc.edu) in United States. He has worked with software testing since 1996. Kari has ISTQB Expert Level Test Management Full, Agile Tester, Test Automation Engineer, Scrum Master, SAFe and DASA DevOps certificates, and works mostly with agile testing, lean, test automation, DevOps and AI.
Kari Kakkonen is also the author and CEO of Dragons Out Oy, creating a fantasy book to teach software testing to children. Kari Kakkonen is working in Finland at Knowit.
Kari is also treasurer of Finnish Software Testing Board FiSTB (fistb.fi) and member of ISTQB Executive committee 2015-2021. Kari has been included in IT–magazine “Tivi” 100 most influential people listing. Kari is co-author of Agile Testing Foundations –book.
